What is the Science of Reading?
The Science of Reading is a complex, interdisciplinary body of research designed to understand what impacts and develops the reading brain. It draws on and combines research from the fields of Education, Neuroscience, Cognitive science, Psychology, and Linguistics. This body of research has informed our understanding regarding the effectiveness of various skills and instructional methods used to teach children to read and write. Like most fields of scientific research, it is dynamic and constantly evolving, and therefore should not be viewed as a fixed body of knowledge.
