Free Reading Screenings
The Southport CoLAB is pleased to partner with EarlyBird Education to offer Free Reading Screenings to children in pre-kindergarten to second grade. The EarlyBird Assessment, developed and tested by leading experts at Harvard University and the Florida Center for Reading Research, is a child-friendly, game-based assessment that identifies potential reading challenges and provides data that can be used to effectively advocate for evidenced-based instruction.
EarlyBird assesses the following critical skills predictive of later reading success:
- Naming speed
- Sound/symbol correspondence
- Phonemic and phonological awareness
- Oral language comprehension
- Word reading
Assessment results are analyzed by experts in the field who follow up within a week with individualized recommendations.
